I use Joomla as a content management system and I am learning that while it creates some efficiencies, and has lots of components, it is a pile of trouble.

Suffice to say something in one of the components came to life as a spam emailer, so the ISP shut that down --- shutting down the main blog page in the process.

That has been resolved, and I am planning to move this thing on to WordPress, which I gather is somewhat less troublesome.

Arrgh.

Not sure which component, which is kinda scary in itself ... my ISP says about 25 per cent of the CMS sites they host are Joomla, but account for 75 per cent of the problems

Do you know specifically which component came to life as a spam emailer? I'm assuming it is a 3rd party component as Joomla I have used Joomla for websites small and large, even some for Universities and have never once had any issues with Joomla components, although I tend to stick with very reputable 3rd party components.

Dave, good move switching to Wordpress we switched to Wordpress for our Blog, then integrated our main website 12 months ago and have not looked back.

Good luck with the switch.
